I was recently cooking dinner and noticed that I was running low on vegetable oil. I had olive oil in the fridge and wondered if I could substitute one for the other. It has such a special flavor, that I wonder if it would work in regular dishes. Can you substitute olive oil for vegetable oil in cooking?

I also wondered can you substitute vegetable oil for olive oil, and as it turns out it can be used instead of vegetable oil. I did it myself. It is great for frying and stewing, although the taste is a little different. If it is a dish with strong spices or sauces, the taste of the oil is not very noticeable. But for baking, I would use a softer oil, such as light olive oil or refined, so as not to interrupt the taste.
