Fruit Picking in Tasmania ( TAS )
With so many amazing experiences throughout our island to choose from, it is little wonder Tassie is on most people’s ‘must visit’ holiday list. Many people often don’t make it to Tasmania, but the natural beauty and fresh air is not to be missed. Engage in the wilderness and wildlife. Explore convict stories and our rich sandstone heritage at World Heritage Convict sites. Discover places that have remained unspoilt for thousands of years.
Tasmania is known as the apple isle, not because they like eating apples, well maybe they do but apple production in Tasmania is very high. Fruit Picking in Tasmania is a popular way to get the 2nd year visa extension but one that is not originally thought of. The ones that come to mine are Mildura, Shepparton, Caboolture, Bundaberg but now Tasmania is coming on the map as a way to get a unique Australian experience and stay another year down under.
Many work and holiday makers will also go the Mona Musuem which, visit the beautiful wineries and discover the nature Tassie has to offers while fruit picking work is completed. If you go during the winter don’t be expecting to much sun, so if your a summer person, up north is the way to go for you, Queensland it is. There will be many accommodation options available as well including staying on farms, at working hostels or even in share houses. It really depends on your financial and transport situation as to where you stay. If you don’t have your own car and the farm work is 10km away, you might need to stay at a working hostel.
