So you’re in a foreign country, everything is different and suddenly you have questions about your employment, well you’re not the only one. Over the past 2 years the Fair Work Ombudsman in Australia as received 230 complaints in the Fruit Picking Sector, as a result of these complaints $80,000 was recovered for 107 workers. Around one third of these these workers were on a “ Working Holiday Downunder”. This is just the Fruit Picking Sector, so there’s going to be a lot more complaints and queries in the much larger sectors.
From our view at Working Holiday Jobs Australia it’s simply not fair that Working Holiday Makers are taken advantage so we urge you to make your voice heard and share both good and bad experiences in our forum, let everybody know what’s going on out there!
But don’t let the buck stop there, if you believe there’s a scam or something dodgy going on contact the Fair Work Ombudsman (FWO). On Wednesdays 30 between 1.00pm – 2.00pm AEST, Fair Work Australia host a LIVE Q&A for employees and employers alike, to ask about their rights and obligations. Make sure you don’t miss the event if you have any questions about your employment situation.
Remember you’re not the only one on a Working Holiday, many people are asking the exact same questions as you. Make your voice heard and be a member of the community and help enrich everyone’s experience Down under.
Best of Luck,
Working Holiday Jobs Australia

I have been in Australia for 1 month and a week now. Even before my arrival in Australia, I sent hundreds of resume to more than 30 different jobs sites. Gumtree was the first one I was suggested to by many friends. Not one single reply from anyone. I kept sending more resumes even while I was here but still… No one replied. I have checked my resume , re-checked it again and again thinking maybe something was wrong with it but that didn’t make it either.
Before my arrival I worked hard every single day where I lived (New Caledonia) to earn enough to fly here. Every day I would tell myself when I cleaned work sites (taking garbages to garbage dump) that “Australia is the place to be” but maybe all this was only just a dream. I am ready to do any jobs. I was ready to do any jobs. But no one gave me a chance. No one gives me a chance. People, agencies keep posting on job sites that they need people. I send resumes, text them. call them.but again nothing. I am now hopeless and will soon need to live on the street. gave everything I could. Somebody. Anybody. please help me.
